There are times in our lives when we feel connected, safe and whole. These are the times when we are the happiest and things seem to effortlessly flow in our lives. Then something happens, sometimes we aren’t quite sure what it was, that takes us off balance and things start going downhill. Ever been there? You might feel anxious, tired and empty inside. I’m not talking about clinical depression, but more of a disconnected feeling.
What I have found is that these lower vibrational feelings and emotions often stem from a disconnection with spirit. Whether we recognize it or not, our spirit guides us through everything in life and when you feel disconnected from spirit, you also feel as though you’ve lost your way.
So how can you get back on track, feeling happy and in control of your life once again? If you are feeling this way now, it’s time to start reconnecting with that divine spark within you.
How To Reconnect with Spirit
Spirit resides within all of us, so reconnecting with spirit is about reconnecting with you. It is about being present with you, allowing yourself to be alone and rediscover the love you have for yourself.
Below are some ideas on what you can try to help you get back to that centered, grounded sense of stability. Try one or all of them and see what works for you.
Me time
Establish a part of your day, maybe an hour or so, when you can truly be alone. Take the time to read a book, watch a movie, clean out a desk drawer, or whatever it is you want to do. Try to stay away from Social Media because that does involve other people. The idea is to have alone time, preferably away from electronic devices.
Start meditating
It can be as simple as taking a few minutes to focus on your breathing. When we are aware of our breath, we are in the present moment. Allow thoughts to float into your mind and then gently move them away as you come back to focusing on your breath. Once you get better at this with practice, continue on for 20, 30, or even 60 minutes - the longer, the better. Consider using a mala (prayer beads) to keep count of a mantra that you might want to chant to help keep your mind focused on the present moment. Check out our blog post about the Ganesha mantra here.
Hobbies
Start a new hobby or pick up an old one you haven’t made time for lately. Get back to your scrapbooking, painting, baking, or whatever it is that makes your heart sing! Maybe you started restoring an old car and its just sitting there in the driveway waiting for you to return.
Get moving!
Go for a walk. That’s actually one of the best ways to clear your head and get fresh air and healthy activity at the same time. Go by yourself and just let yourself take in the sights. Let your worries go as you pace through the woods, your neighborhood or nearby park.
Journal
Find a cheap spiral notebook from the dollar store, or a nice, fancy leather bound journal with recycled paper pages. Whatever you choose, start writing in it. Maybe you have one you got a while ago and never used it because you don’t have anything important to write in it. Hogwash! Just start writing. This will help you clear your mind of some of that clutter, helping you to feel more grounded and centered. Think of it as a mind flush that is cleansing and necessary!
Crystals
Set up a crystal grid with crystals that resonate with the Heart Chakra. Rose Quartz, Rhodonite, Rhodochrosite, Peridot, Emerald, Ruby, Ruby Fuschite and Garnet are just a few that would be perfect for strengthening the love you have for yourself. Not into crystal grids? Then carry one or a few of these stones with you. Be sure to take them out now and then to play with them and feel their loving energy.
Also, our crystal of the month, Sodalite, is perfect for helping you to reconnect with spirit because it is a stone of awakening. Click here to read our blog post all about Sodalite.
Essential Oils
Diffuse essential oils in an oil warmer, atomizer or even aromatherapy jewelry that are uplifting and help stimulate happy feelings. Combine the aromas with meditating while holding one of your Heart Chakra crystals and you’re well on your way.
However you choose to make time for yourself, just remember that you are doing this for your own health and wellbeing. Allow yourself to be vulnerable because no one is watching and no one is around to judge you. If certain thoughts or feelings emerge that you feel are important, take some time to journal about them. Journaling is a great way to chronicle your journey of self-rediscovery.
Be gentle with yourself as you find your way back to your center. You will soon find that your spirit never left you, and that it loves you unconditionally, always and forever.
